Ignite Summit is a great way to get a head start on your leadership and involvement at UTK! Not only will you leave knowing everything you need to know about being a Volunteer, you will also leave with new friends and great advice on how to get involved at The University of Tennessee!

Statistically, students who participate in the Ignite Summit have a greater success rate of persisting to their sophomore year at the university, compared with non-participants. Additionally, it is a ton of fun and you will make great memories and countless friendships!

Highlights of the Program

• Connect with current staff, faculty and student leaders
• Have frequent team meetings throughout the three day experience to get to know your 12-15 teammates, two team leaders and team facilitator on a more personal level
• Participate in an outdoor challenge course (this is always "challenge by choice")
• Participate in a UT traditions tournament
• Learn all of the UT chants, cheers and game-day traditions to get ready for the upcoming season!
• Create your own team cheer, flag and chant
• Participate in leadership development workshops to learn your own leadership style, the importance of being an inclusive leader at UT, and how to identify and act in congruence with your personal values
• Network with current student leaders and advisors to campus organizations on campus to get a head start on being a student leader at UT!
• Enjoy bonfires, games, optional dance parties and indoor and outdoor activities.

A few common questions...

When is it and how do I sign up? The Ignite Summit will be offered at three different times in 2013: Session 1 is scheduled for June 21 - 23, 2013; Session 2 is scheduled for June 26-28, 2013; Session 3 is scheduled for August 14-16, 2013 (registration for the August session will not open until the June spaces have filled; students in the August session will be offered early housing accommodations to make the transition to Knoxville easier for students and families). Students can register for Ignite Summit when they register online for Summer Orientation or by clicking here anytime after your orientation registration is complete!
How much does it cost? The cost per student is $135.00 and includes transportation to and from the retreat center, lodging, meals, a t-shirt, and Summit materials.
What if I can't pay now but still want to go? While we are not able to fully waive the $135 fee, we are able to provide flexible payment plans for interested students who may have a financial hardship. For more information on that process, please email leadserve@utk.edu. Regardless of your financial situation, we want you to experience Ignite!
Will there be air-conditioning? Yes! All cabins and indoor meeting spaces are airconditioned.
Who normally participates in Ignite Summit? The population at Ignite Summit directly reflects our diverse student body at The University of Tennessee. While every participant is different, one thing is consistent- all 500+ students who attend desire to be true Tennessee Volunteers and plan to be leaders on campus who get inVOLved! Many of our former Ignite participants go on to become leaders within Student Government, Housing, Greek Life, UT Admissions, Student Activities, Orientation, Welcome Week, Multicultural Student Life, and of course the Center for Leadership & Service.
Once I have registered, can I switch sessions or get a refund? For our planning purposes, please note that session changes and refunds will only be given prior to June 1, 2013 and will reflect a $25 deduction for processing. Students may change sessions if space in another session is available by logging in using their student ID to our online registration portal & making the change prior to June 1.
Can I participate in more than one Ignite Session? Yes! Students are encouraged to sign up for any Ignite experience they are interested in. The only dates that overlap are the August Ignite Summit and Ignite Serves, otherwise we encourage students to sign up for multiple programs!
Can I participate in the August Ignite Summit and Panhellenic Recruitment and other Welcome Week activities? Yes! The times do not conflict, and your Ignite participation will help acclimate you to campus before these programs even begin!
