Ignite has a strong tradition on our campus, and incoming students have been participating in the program for more than fifteen years. Each year nearly 1,000 of incoming students participate—you do not want to miss out on this Volunteer experience!
Ignite is a fun way for incoming students (freshmen and transfers) to jump-start their time at UT! Ignite participants learn more about UT, what it means to be a true Volunteer, and connect with other new students and student leaders all while having the time of their lives!
Ignite program dates for 2018:

- Ignite Leadership Summit June 8-10 & August 17-19
- Ignite Serves August 13-16
- Ignite Outdoors: Coordinated by UT RecSports Outdoor Programs. Session dates.
All programs are led by current UT students serving as Ignite Team Leaders.
No payment is required at the time of registration; we will charge your student account for the appropriate amount in August.
Ignite Knox is a four-day leadership and community engagement program that introduces students who are not from Knoxville to our Scruffy City. Participants engage in conversation with UT alums and city leaders, tour the city, serve local nonprofits, and participate in leadership activities.
Ignite Leadership Summit is a three-day camp-like retreat in Asheville, NC focused on being a UT Volunteer and leadership development!
Ignite Outdoors is a four-day adventure program conducted in partnership with the UT RecSports Outdoor Program. Participants practice outdoor leadership skills in the pristine backcountry of East Tennessee while backpacking, canoeing, and rock climbing. This hands-on outdoor experience is perfect for most skill levels!
Ignite Serves is a four-day service experience for 500 incoming students. Participants move into their residence halls early and participate in local service opportunities, leadership programming, and social events.
